Jason D’s is a labor of love. Over the past six years, Jason Dommel has been developing his fermented hot sauce and seasoning blends because of his love for gardening and hot sauce. 2020 has been one heck of a year, bringing new challenges and changes to us all. Jason decided to see how his hot sauces might be received by others, turning 2020 into the year he nailed down a consistent recipe and begin the branding process.
I worked closely with Jason on the design for his labels. We started with keywords and his vision for the brand. Once we decided to include sacred geometry and chose the font (Arbatosh Grunge, by Cruzine Design) the logo came together quickly. The trickiest part was figuring out how to incorporate the words “hot sauce”. The more I talked to Jason the more I realized his food talents extend far beyond hot sauce. Keeping that in mind, we decided to leave “hot sauce” out of the main logo, so the Jason D’s brand can expand over time to offer more food items, like Jason D’s CRUSH for example.
Jason D’s is just getting started and still has many steps left in the process before they are ready for a full label with nutrition info, ingredients and all that good stuff, but the foundation has been set! A strong logo that is interesting and meaningful to the client is the best start you can give a client. Keep your eyes peeled for Jason D’s, coming soon to a store near you (fingers crossed)!
